Testimonial

Alright, so, I have to say that the rock version of this song met or exceeded all my expectations. It ended up being exactly what I was looking for and contains all the elements I heard in my head. The instrumentation and composition screams 80s power ballad, and it’s got the exact vibe I wanted. The vocalist did a great job; he captured all the emotion I was hoping for, and he did so in all the spots I had imagined. I know the chorus uses the melody I sent you, but the melody in the verses ended up being pretty much the same as what I came up with when I wrote the lyric.

Story Behind the Song

Prepare to rock out to The Me I Used to Be. The lyricist has drawn away from the person they once were, and desperately wails, “I know it in my head that I am hanging by a string/My life is all around me but just can’t feel a thing.” Why do things come undone? How can things change? How can people come together again when they have drifted apart? Listen, and live the story of The Me I Used to Be.
