Story Behind the Song

Yes, My Princess was written by YourSongmaker’s founder, David Hawkins, for his [now] wife, Tina. This song beautifully encompasses their wonderfully rare love story and was played for their first dance as husband and wife. David shares, “I wrote the lyrics to this song and had one of my favorite production teams compose and produce it. The team completed the production of the song, only after throwing out copy after copy of my lyrics. Like all of the songs we produce, this one had to be perfect! I finally settled on a good version and it came out sounding better than I had hoped for from the team. The lyrics discuss how our kiss is as unique as our love; our feelings never faded from being together as kids. The words in, Yes, My Princess, convey that no matter what struggles arise, nothing will ever stop me from loving Tina, and that we will triumph over any adversity because of our love. Her children are a natural part of her, and I will truly always love them. They have become a natural part of me, too. I waited 28 years for the day to make her my wife and I am so happy! We are! I always tell Tina that I will love her “until the stars fall from the sky” because (of course) they will never leave space… and my love will never leave Tina.
